• Four PSU players invited to combine

Former Blue Mountain standout Matt Stankiewitch is one of four former Penn State players who have been invited to the NFL Scouting Combine.

Stankiewitch will be joined by linebackers Gerald Hodges and Michael Mauti and defensive tackle Jordan Hill at the combine Feb. 20-26 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Penn State’s four invitations trail only Ohio State’s seven in the Big Ten.

Stankiewitch started all 25 games the last two seasons and was a first-team All-Big Ten selection by the conference coaches. He was instrumental in helping the Nittany Lions lead the Big Ten in total offense in conference games and rank second in scoring and second in passing.

Hill, Hodges and Mauti helped Penn State rank second in the Big Ten and 16th nationally in scoring team. The Lions held six opponents to 17 or fewer points.

Hill was a second-team All-America pick by Athlon Sports and was named to the All-Big Ten first team by the coaches and media.

Hodges was a semifinalist for the Butkus Award and was named to the All-Big Ten second team by the coaches and media.

Also a semifinalist for the Butkus Award, Mauti was named to the All-America first team by ESPN.com and Phil Steele’s College Football. He also was named the Butkus-Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year in the Big Ten and to the all-conference first team by the coaches and media.
